Saithe is caught along the Norwegian coastline and in the fjords of the Atlantic Ocean. Dried salted saithe has more flavour than the other types of dried salted fish. Therefore it is often used in casseroles and bolinos. Dried salted saithe is sized by the amount of fish placed in a 25 kg carton:

7/9 (2-3 kg)
10/12 (2-2.5 kg)
13/15 (1.5-2 kg)
16/20 (1-1.5 kg)
21/30 (0.75-1 kg)
